The carpark barrier on the Elder Road side of the estate has now been fixed after months of not working. Unfortunately Tivoli Road was also fixed but was immediately broken again by someone driving in to it. Your TRA is on the case with the council to try and persuade them to change the type of barrier on this side of the estate.
Repairs to the barriers are chargeable to the residents that pay service charge and so we do not want these type of repairs to be frequent. Please use the barriers carefully and respectfully. The rising bollard does take some time to lower so ALWAYS WAIT for the green light before driving through.
On the 3rd of August 2023 the council actioned the new strategy for the Woodvale Estate bin areas. We now have all the general waste bins and recycling bins housed within the bin stores. This makes the carpark area much tidier and also addresses the fire safety risk of having the recycling directly under resident's windows and balconies. All the bins for general household waste are housed in the right hand store of each set of stores and the recycling bins are in the left hand side. There is also new signage to explain what goes where. We really hope that residents will use the bins appropriately and see the benefit of this improvement.
As I'm sure you've all noticed the bin stores and the areas around them have become unacceptable of late. There was a five week period when no rubbish was collected at all and the TRA worked very hard to get to the bottom of this and hold those responsible to account. Thankfully that particular issue did get resolved and so far has since been working as it should be. However not all the mess is being caused by missed bin collections.....
The TRA have spent a lot of time thinking and designing what, we think, will be an improvement to our current waste disposal set up and have had many meetings with council officials to get them on board and to commit to the changes. This is however a slow process but the painting has started on South side of the Estate. The plan is to repaint the inside of all the stores and to change the ratio of general waste to recycling bins as, at the moment, the recycling bins are overflowing but half the general waste bins are empty. We are also hoping to get some nice neat enclosed bins to sit outside of the stores where the current recycling bins are now.
Whatever changes we make though will still rely on the residents taking responsibility for the correct disposal of rubbish and to have respect for the estate, for themselves and for their neighbours. We will endeavour to make it as clear as possible as to what goes where and we sincerely hope that all our neighbours will get on board and help make this estate as clean and tidy as possible. Please see our page on rubbish and recycling here. We will keep you updated on the progress of the project.
A few of our younger residents got together recently to brighten up the random bollards that grace the Tivoli Road corner of Woodvale estate. As we're sure you'll agree they provide a fun bit of theatre to the area. We have also seen some wonderful art work appearing around the estate. Please see our blog to find out more.
