There has been some consultation with Lambeth Landscapes about how we wish to move forward with the landscaping maintenance of Woodvale Estate to promote the best environment for our wildlife whist still keeping the spaces pretty and useable for the human residents. Last year we trialed leaving the grass long with pathways mown through, but it was generally agreed that this made the areas look uncared for and there was not enough space for residents to sit and use the area. This year we will try cutting more of the grass and just leaving longer arteas around the trees and where bulbs have been planted. We are also asking for the hedges at the front of the estate to be left to grow a little higher (although still neatened around the sides) to create a barrier to the road noise and pollution. This is an ongoing discussion and is in the early phase and so may take time to make sure everyone is on the same page and will evolve as time goes on.
