Projects and Events

There are lots of creative volunteers living here who volunteer their time on fun projects and events. If you have an idea of something you want to do, arrange or need funding for, then get in touch with the TRA and come along to a meeting to discuss.

Bulb Planting

In Springtime you may see daffodils and other spring flowers popping up all over the estate. Residents have come together, supported by Lambeth Landscapes, to plant these in fun bulb planting days.

Tree Planting

You will have seen recently that there has been lots more trees planted on the estate and also down along Elder Road. Lambeth Council are keen to bring even more bio-diversity to the estate and local area. We are looking forward to seeing them grow and thrive.

Global Street Art

The TRA discussed the idea of brightening up some of the darker, more unloved spaces on the estate and bring moments of unexpected joy to residents and those just passing through. We spoke to Lambeth Council and they agreed that this was a lovely idea and so our Chair set about researching the best way to achieve this project. We have now partnered with Global Street Art – an agency based in London that promotes and coordinates street art. They have a social value ‘Art For Estates’ programme, which partners street artists with council owned estates across London, to provide public artwork at no cost to residents or councils. We decided that we would phase this project and start with small spaces to allow residents to get a taste of what we are doing and time for any feedback on the project.

The idea behind the project with Global Street Art is that we get the chance to approve an artist by reviewing their past work and their style, but we do not see the actual design for our space before it is painted. 3 wonderful street artists braved the cold and snow and came to the estate in December to put their stamp on a few of our darker nooks and crannies. This first stage has been concentrated on the South side of the estate around Pondfield and Longmead Houses and, we hope you agree, has provided a bit of colour and love to those spaces. A brief look at the artists involved is below.

Itaewon

Jake Attewell is a London based artist who grew up in Seoul, in the area of Itaewon, hence his professional name. His work is often based in the abstraction of architecture. ‘If I see beauty in something, I usually have to explore it through painting’

Bollard Painting

A few of our younger residents got together recently to brighten up the random bollards that grace the Tivoli Road corner of Woodvale estate. As we’re sure you’ll agree they provide a fun bit of theatre to the area. We have also seen some wonderful art work appearing around the estate.
